Steve Willis (aka Commando Steve)

Q: What area of fitness are you currently
working in?
I currently work within the training side of the fitness industry, majority of my time is taken up training corporate clients, conducting group training and personal training. We are currently going through the processes of opening our own facility to incorporate and enhance the CFX methodology and provide a service that breaks the mould of the traditional gym.
Q: How did you get into the fitness
industry?
Fitness has always played a major role in my life, I spent 10 years in the Military, Special Forces. To experience what I have requires a certain amount of dedication, focus and a very high standard of fitness. I felt that I could take what I have learnt in the military to develop my own unique system to help others to achieve their goals and ambitions whether it be an elite athlete or an everyday individual who strives for more in life.
Q: Your reason for being in the fitness
industry?
My greatest reason for being in the fitness industry is my drive and passion to achieve the so called unachievable, whether that be for myself or my clients, if you want it bad enough I will and can help you achieve.
Q: Any gripes about the fitness industry?
The confusion about nutrition, exercise, what’s good for me and what’s not, there is a lot of smoke and mirrors and people become easily distracted and confused and simply fall by the way.
Q: Did you study any areas of exercise or fitness?
I completed my Certificate III in Fitness and Certificate IV in Fitness with FIA as they are the best! I am constantly studying all or as many areas of fitness and exercise that I can, as I believe that to be just fit or good at one thing is not good enough you must possess a high level of physical fitness but to achieve that physical standard you need to have an understanding of how and why.
Q: How important do you think it is to update your learning in the fitness world?
Updating and learning should be an everyday occurrence, if you think that you are a professional at whatever it is that you do, it should go without saying that you are constantly developing and learning new method’s and gaining greater insight to improve your professionalism.
Q: Any predictions?
Take control of your health and fitness or it will take control of you.
Q: What advice do you have for anyone
wanting to learn more about fitness?
Find what it is you are passionate about, compete an FIA course, read books, use the internet, talk to people, learn all you can and the greatest asset of all ensure you put it into practice yourself, to feel is to know.
