Sebastian Oreb

Q: What area of fitness are you currently working in?
Personal training – fat loss, rehab, bodybuilding, nutritional advice and I mostly love strength and conditioning.
Q: How did you get into the fitness industry?
I have always been into sports, and strength training and I was working behind a desk from 9 to 5 doing something I didn’t enjoy.
A friend of mine convinced me to come and study with him to keep him company. I ended up quitting my job and taking up personal training.
Q: Your reason for being in the fitness industry?
For me it doesn’t feel like a job. Every day I come to the gym, hang out with great people while they train
(and guide them through it of course), achieve great results, and get paid for it.
Q: Any gripes about the fitness industry?
Disciples of any single training methodology, preaching that there is only one way of achieving results.
Q: Did you study any areas of exercise or fitness?
I have completed my cert III and IV in Fitness and just recently completed my Diploma of Sport with FIA, and my Cert IV in Massage with FIA.
I have also enrolled to begin a Bachelor of Exercise Science at ACU. I have completed numerous workshops provided by fitness first as well as
external seminars on rehabilitation. I also make it a part of my daily routine to jump online and read an article or two on something to do
with exercise or nutrition.
Q: How important do you think it is to update your learning in the fitness world?
I was once told that scientific knowledge doubles every 18 months. Whether this is true or not, it definitely motivates me to keep learning.
Q: What would you like to see happen in the industry over the next few years?
Many things. FIA Offering their own Bachelors degree in Strength and Conditioning would be great!
More funding into sports in Australia, more time, energy and money spent on early childhood development in Australia.
Q: Any predictions?
If the above comes true, more Olympic Gold medals for Australia.
Q: What advice do you have for anyone wanting to learn more about fitness?
Be open minded. What works for one person may not work for someone else. Don’t forget to train yourself. Keep it simple.
