Personal Trainer Profile - Jodie Low

Q: What area of fitness are you currently working in?

I specialise in Personal training, Corporate Groups in Personal training and Pilate’s instruction.

Q: How did you get into the fitness industry?

I have always had a passion for sport from very early age being a gymnast, competing in track & field and netball, I began coaching younger netball teams in high school and working with children in a crèche (movement to music) it made sense that I continue to work in and industry that I love and have a passion for.

Q: Your reason for being in the fitness industry?

I love the variety, working with people, helping them achieve their goals and be the best person they can be.

Q: Any gripes about the fitness industry?

Early morning alarms….yark!!!!

Q: Did you study any areas of exercise or fitness?

Once I had my fitness leaders I began working for Graeme Lancefield (head of NAABA) at Athletique Health Club. Graeme was an invaluable mentor, who also got me involved in Miss Fitness Australia, which lead to me competing in the Miss Fitness World 2 years running. Since then I have completed my Certificate IV in Fitness - Personal Training with the FIA and have completed my Full Pilates Certification with Stott Pilates.

Q: How important do you think it  is to update your learning in the fitness world?

It is ESSENTIAL, regardless of what industry you are in it’s important to stay on top of your game, that’s what makes you a good instructor.

Q: What would you like to see happen in the industry over the next few years?

I’d like to see more recommendations coming from health practioners. Especially plastic surgeons, I’d like to see them recommending sessions with a personal trainer or to join a gym to educate themselves about healthy diet and exercise instead of readily performing operations such as Liposuction on young girls. The quick fix is not the best or healthiest solution.

Q: Any predictions?

This is more wishful hoping rather than a prediction, but I would like to see supplements and diet pills regulated on weather they have been proven of if they only work in conjunction with a healthy diet and active lifestyle…… surprise, surprise!!!!!!

Q: What advice do you have for anyone wanting to learn more about fitness?

Diversify your skills with ongoing courses and make time to participate in other people’s sessions to stay motivated.
