Personal Trainer Profile – David Felice

Q: What area of fitness are you currently working in?

Group Exercise classes and Group Exercise Education.

Q: How did you get into the fitness industry?

I had trained in martial arts for many years, I loved keeping fit and wanted to make a career out of it so I went to FIA and completed my Group Exercise Instructor Certificate. I then got a job at Thump Boxing headquarters in Five Dock .I started out with two boxing fitness classes per week the classes became increasingly popular and within three months I was taking Up to 3-5 classes daily I loved it .Today I am a presenter for Thump Training Systems presenting Boxing for fitness courses across Australia and New Zealand.

Q: Your reason for being in the fitness industry?

I love the atmosphere that builds in a great group exercise class. People come to the classes in bad moods a leave feeling great. Others have had some sort of life crisis and turn there life around by looking after themselves and participating in exercise. It’s great to watch them change.

Q: Any gripes about the fitness industry?

Not really.Im happy.

Q: Did you study any areas of exercise or fitness?

Yes I’m a qualified gym and group instructor I my completed studies at FIA.
At present I’m completing my Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Certificate and will then complete my Certificate IV in Fitness and Diploma of Fitness with FIA.

Q: How important do you think it  is to update your learning in the fitness world?

I believe it’s very important. I also believe it’s important to implement what you have learnt. A great trainer is always learning.

Q: What would you like to see happen in the industry over the next few years?

I would like to see the industry working together more than at present. Using each others strengths to get the best results whether it’s in physical training or education. I believe there is a lot of good knowledge around and we need to utilise it.

Q: Any predictions?

Boxing for fitness to become even more popular. I believe in the next couple of years all professional sporting teams will be adding boxing to their training routine if they have not already.

Q: What advice do you have for anyone wanting to learn more about fitness?

Firstly begin with completing Certificate III in Fitness at FIA they are the best. Learning at FIA was enjoyable everything was explained thoroughly and most of all it was fun . Then you may decide what career pathway you would like to pursue in the fitness Industry.
