NEW! FIA gains University articulation agreement with ACU (National)

ACU National recognises the Diploma of Fitness and Diploma of Sport run by Fitness Institute Australia (FIA). The FIA and ACU National have an articulation agreement where by ACU National recognises the courses mentioned above which assists entry into the Bachelor of Exercise Science for those students who have gained good results in the Diploma. Students can apply for credit for units studied once in the Bachelor of Exercise Science.

How is the course offered?

You can attend 2 days per week (Monday/Tuesday) , plus workplace training and assessment and online for 5 weeks or complete via distance /online learning or even a mix of the two.

Who should enroll?

This course can be completed by anyone who has completed their Certificate III in Fitness, is a registered instructor/trainer and is looking to expand their knowledge and skills in the fitness industry.

Where is it held?

At the Fitness Institute Australia’s main campus in Surry Hills (close to all transport)

Costs: $2,150.00 (price - all inclusive)

Save $$$ with FIA and complete the best Cert IV program in Australia. You can also complete this program via distance/online learning and choose any number of subjects at a time i.e. 1 subject @ 450.00 per subject (it doesn't get any more flexible than that!).

What you receive:

You will receive all the materials required to complete this course. Textbooks (written by your lecturers), assessment online manuals/study guides, face to face lectures and student online support (world class online tools!). You will also receive advanced standing into the Diploma of Fitness (full exemption from 5 of the 12 subjects), certificates of attainments in each of the subjects CECs per subject.

Personal Trainer Profile - Michael Cunico (Fitness First - Assistant Regional PT Manager)

This months PT Profile is Michael Cunico. Michael represented Australia at U/17 and U/20 Soccer World Cups, held a scholarship at the AIS for 2 years in their soccer program, played for Northern Spirit and Sydney United in the old National Soccer League. He now works side by side with the Fitness First NSW Regional Personal Training Manager assisting him in running the region of NSW, which currently has 39 clubs with almost 900 Personal Trainers! NATIONAL FITNESS 2008 - FITNESS CONFERENCE
As the health and fitness industry grows at epidemic proportions the demand for quality education has become increasingly high especially with record number of people participating in some form of physical exercise. This can be via a personal trainer, gym membership, or some form of outdoor recreation.

Understanding the needs of the general public when it comes to physical health and fitness is vital to obtaining successful results. This applies especially to the many personal trainers and group exercise instructors dealing with special populations. The key to the successful training and development of fitness professionals lies in the quality of presenters and lecturers who contribute to these events and how dedicated they are to the industry. With conference organisers having a very stringent process of deciding who and what will be presented to fitness professionals this make for a successful and quality event.

National Fitness 2008 will see the industries best presenters in various lectures and workshops ranging from Pilates, Boxing, Spin, Nutrition, Special Populations, and Exercise Physiology. As a member of FIA you can now gain valuable CEC’s for re-registration via a “user friendly” format. Save time and money by completing an FIA Quizz Online from anywhere in the world! FREE to all members of FIA you can earn 1 CEC every time you pass a quiz. You can complete the quiz at anytime and you are given instant feedback regarding the result.

  • After successfully completing the quiz your CEC will be available for viewing at Academic History.
  • Each quiz is based on a different topic and a selection of diverse articles about that topic from the Online Library (360 + articles).
  • It takes most people approximately two hours to read the 10 research review articles and answer the quiz and approximately 1 hour (varies) for the fitness forum articles .
  • You are given 20 minutes to answer a quiz (the passing grade is 90%) .

Corrective Exercise Prescription Program - a must for Personal trainers

Prerequisite: Certificate III in Fitness

Confused about what works and what doesn't? Confused about functional training vs strength training? Sick of completing endless CEC programs that don't lead anywhere? Now you can find out the facts, gain CECs and upgrade your quals all at the same time online!

This brand new Diploma of Fitness subject has been designed to extend the Personal Trainers knowledge of how to assess a clients’ muscular strengths and weaknesses and prescribe strengthen and stretching exercises to correct any presented distortions. The subject examines over 800 strengthen and stretching exercises grouped according to movement patterns. The strengthening exercises prescribed promote all forms of resistance including body weight, barbells, dumbbells, elastic resistance tubing, water, partner resistance, cable pulleys, weight machines etc. The exercises are examined from a variety of different positions performed through all planes of movement. The stretching exercises promote all stretching techniques including variations of static, ballistic and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation.

You will receive all the materials required to complete this program, including the new (2008) textbook (written by the lecturers for this subject), an assessment manual/online study guide and full online tutorial support. You will also receive advanced standing into the Diploma of Fitness (full exemption from this subject). A certificate of attainment and CECs will be issued on successful completion of the assessments.
