Kathleen
Alleaume BAppSc (ExSc) M.Human Nutrition
A former Australian Sports Acrobatics
champion Kathleen Alleaume is a qualified Exercise Physiologist
and Nutritionist. Kathleen operates a consulting business where
she specialises in delivering Wellness Workshops to corporations.
Kathleen is personally and professionally dedicated to helping
people achieve optimal health and well-being.
Dr. Paul Batman PhD., MSc.,
BSc., DipPhysEd., DipEd.
Paul is a Director
of the Fitness Institute Australia and has spent over 20 years
lecturing in Universities throughout Australia and overseas.
He has earned a reputation as one of the most experienced and
sought after lecturers in the fitness industry. Paul has a Ph.D.
in Exercise Science and is the author of 5 books, over 100 magazine
and journal articles and has made over 1,000 public presentations
on all aspects of fitness education.
Corey is the founder of one of Australia's largest Personal
Training facilities. Corey has worked with athlete's from all
ages and abilities, including state, national, international
and Olympic level athletes and professional athletes from the
AFL and NRL, as well as many world champions in their chosen
sport. Currently Corey works with many of Australia’s
leading professional boxers and in conjunction with legendary
boxing trainer Johnny Lewis conduct boxing accreditation and
training for fitness professionals. With his background in
high performance coaching and business development Corey understands
what it takes for people to get the most out of themselves.
Corey has two university degrees, a level two strength and
conditioning coach and is a qualified Exercise Physiologist
with the Australian Association of Exercise and Sports Science
(AAESS).
Mark Deaves BSc (Osteopathy) Dip.Ex.Sc. Cert IV - Fitness
Mark has an extensive background as a personal trainer and
fitness centre director. The owner of his own fitness centre,
Mark specialises in group personal training and lectures in
the FIA education programs on the following practical topics:
Group Exercise (fitness), Fitness Assessments, Posture Profiling,
Resistance Training and Advanced Aerobic Conditioning. Mark
was one of the first graduates of the FIA Diploma of Exercise
Science and one of the first professional trainers to receive
his Certificate IV in Fitness and Certificate IV Assessment
and Workplace Training. He is currently completing a Masters
of Osteopathy at UWS.
Jacqueline
Green BHMS (Exercise Science)
Jackie is the 2004 World Aerobics Champion and during her seven
years competing in Sports Aerobics she has been National champion
three times. A previous student of FIA, Jackie has completed
her Certificate III and Certificate IV in fitness, combined
with a degree in Exercise Science (Human Movement). Jackie currently
works full time in the Health & Fitness Industry working
as an Injury Management Advisor in the Workers Compensation
sector, with previous experience including injury rehabilitation
and work conditioning. With a passion for aerobics and exercise,
Jackie has been instructing group fitness for six years and
spent the last two years performing on Aerobics Oz Style.
Paul
Haslam BSpSc., BPE, CSCS
Paul has been an 'A' grade Olympic
Lifter, placing second at the 1980 National titles. He has twice
been Australian Heavyweight Body Building Champion(IFBB)
and represented Australia in International competitions. Paul
has worked in the fitness industry for over 23 years,
from aerobics instructor to Fitness Centre owner. He holds
a degree in Physical Education, a Sports Science degree (with
Merit) and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist(NSCA/USA).
Paul has worked as Strength Coach and Assistant Conditioner
with the South Sydney RLFC, as well as private training of athletes
at all levels of competition from juniors through to Olympians.
Paul currently conducts a popular personal training business,
operating mainly from City Gym, Sydney.
Carolyn
Knights AssDipAppSci (Sports Science), Diploma
Remedial Massage, Cert IV in Fitness, Cert IV Assessment and
Workplace Trainer
Carolyn is a qualified and accredited
massage therapist, personal trainer and weight management coach
and level 2 SMA sports trainer. She has over 25 years experience
in the health and fitness industry. Carolyn has a wealth of
experience in both massage therapy and fitness training. She
has traveled overseas and in Australia as a massage therapist
/sports trainer for the NSW Veterans and Australian Veterans
hockey squads over the past 9 years. Carolyn is also the sports
trainer for Camden Netball Association and representative fitness
trainer for Campbelltown Netball Association.
Trent Knights: B.App.Sci (Traditional
Chinese Medicine), Diploma Remedial Massage, Diploma of Chi
Balancing Massage (Chinese Tui Na).
Trent is a qualified and accredited massage therapist, acupuncturist
and Chinese herbalist. He has 6 years experience in the massage
therapy and alternative health industry. Trent has attended
various carnivals across the state as a sports trainer/ massage
therapist. He has had the pleasure of training a variety of
students during their massage clinical hours with great success.
Trent traveled to China to complete his Chinese medicine training
and developed a host of new skills training in Nanjing provincial
hospitals Tui Na (Chinese remedial massage) department for
a number of weeks.
Fiona
began working in the Fitness Industry in 1988 as a part time
Aerobics Instructor at numerous Fitness Centres around Sydney,
whilst working as a Registered Nurse. Then, after studying Sport
Science at UNSW pursued a full time career in the industry working
in areas including the Sport Science laboratory at NSWIS, cardiac
rehabilitation and clinical exercise prescription, conducting
corporate workshops and health screening, as well as fitness
assessment, exercise programming and lifestyle education for
the general population. Fiona currently runs a Personal Training
business and teaches Yoga for the NSW Cricket team.
Heather McIntyre BAppSc (Sp. & Ex.Sc.) Cert IV Personal Trainer, Cert IV
Assessor
As the new FIA Education Officer Heather's
enthusiasm for learning and her avid interests in all sports
and general fitness will make her a valuable addition to the
FIA Academic Faculty. Heather has had an abundance of practical
experience, working in gymnasiums and medical practices in Sydney's
southwest as a fitness trainer, catering for juvenile athletes
in school sports programs and with the general public. Heather's
particular interest lies with the fundamental machinations of
the human body and training specifics for optimal human function.
Angela
Milhellis BSc
(Psych)
Unique,
creative and successful describe Angela Milhellis’s approach
to teaching group exercise. Her extensive teaching experience
and background in aerobics, dance and competitive sport allows
her to inspire FIA students. Angela is a dynamic presenter whose
individual style, energy and personality ranks her among the
best in the business today. Angela has a dance/aerobic background
of almost 30 years, which when coupled with over ten years working
experience within the industry, provides a strong grounding
for technical execution and presentation. .
Angela has achieved an honours qualification in all ballet grades
and has competed in and won many studio and dance company events.
Dr. Sarah Morante PhD and BAppSc (Ex&SpSci)
Sarah is an exercise and sport scientist and a fully qualified personal trainer who has been involved in the fitness industry for many years. Sarah operates a business that provides education to clients including The University of Sydney, ACPE, Tennis Coaches Australia and Netball NSW. She has conducted research for the International Tennis Federation (ITF) who used the results to develop the Extreme Heat Policy for all professional tennis tournaments. Sarah has presented her research at international conferences and has published papers in scientific journals. Sarah is an Advanced Tennis Coach, Director of Tennis Coaches Australia and regular contributor to the Australian Tennis magazine.
Andrew Richardson MSpSc., BSpSc., AssDipAppSc., Cert.IV Assessor & Workplace
Training
Andrew is a Director of the Fitness Institute Australia and
is a former 10 x National Champion in the sport of Judo, representing
Australia at Commonwealth, World and Olympic Games. A former
lecturer in Sports Science at the UNSW for 7 years, Andrew is
a popular lecturer in all FIA Fitness EducationPrograms and
presents regularly at International fitness conventions. He
has a wealth of applied and theoretical experience, especially
in the areas of fitness assessments, resistance training, sports
conditioning and exercise program design.
Wendy Richmond MSpSc., BSc., Cert. IV Assessment & Workplace Training
Wendy has pursued a career as a fitness professional for the
past 15 years. Wendy has extensive experience in fitness training
and group exercise instruction having managed and worked in
gymnasiums in both Australia and America. As a corporate health
professional providing fitness training and research services,
Wendy has extensive experience in all aspects of corporate fitness.
Her areas of expertise also include exercise physiology, sports
specific fitness and fitness centre management.
James Raftos Cert IV in Fitness – Personal Trainer
The areas of fitness that I am currently working in are mainly gym floor resistance training and programming for all specific needs e.g.hypertrophy, fat loss, strength and sports specific training. The fitness industry was a passion for me as I started training at martial arts, gymnastics and power lifting at the age of 11. I have been in the industry for over 25 years. The FIA made me a professional in the industry,in which I have been working full time for 5 years and I love what I do very much. I have stopped competing now but have many clients who still compete in various sports
John Schell MSc. (Hons), BSc., DipPhysEd. Senior FIA Assessor
John has been a lecturer
in Tertiary education for over 27 years, the last 10 years as
a Senior Lecturer in Exercise Science at the University of NSW.
John lectured in Exercise Physiology and Physical Fitness Assessment.
He co-authored the textbook "Physical Fitness Assessment
in Exercise and Sport Science" (2nd Ed. 1994), which is
used by a number universities as their preferred course text.
John is an accredited Exercise Test Technologist with the American
College of Sports Medicine.
Andrew
Stowe Certificate IV in Fitness, ASCA Coach
Andrew’s
background is in team based sports, both as a representative
player and as a coach of state and national teams. He is also
an ASCA strength and conditioning coach. His progression to
personal training is a result of his commitment to helping individuals
set and achieve their goals. In addition to developing strength
and fitness he brings a strong focus on diet and lifestyle to
help clients establish and maintain total health and well-being.
Andrew now operates ‘Our Gym’ a successful and growing
personal training company and ‘The Office Games’
a corporate training business based in Sydney.
Dr. Gail Trapp PhD., MSpSc. (Hons), BSpSc., AssDipAppSc., DipTeach.
Gail lectures in the FIA's Fitness Leader Education Program
and Continuing Education Program, specialising in gentle exercise,
fitness assessment and special populations. Gail has been an
aerobic/circuit instructor for fourteen years, is currently
a University lecturer in Sports Science andhas recently completed
her Ph.D. in Exercise Science.
Dieter Wilhelmi MSpSc.,
BSpSc.
Dieter’s experiences include the management
of major sports centres, publishing magazines and operating
a highly successful professional coaching business. Dieter is
a life member of the Australian Davis Cup Foundation and has
competed in several sports at national and international level.
Dieter has also lectured at the UNSW and ACPE in Sport Science
and lectures in the FIA’s Business Management (fitness)
program.
